Review:
Choice, is a
simple thing. But when you know it can change everything, it is hard to choose.
It ends with us by Colleen Hoover presents the same thing. Lilly Bloom,
the main character has grown up in an unhealthy environment. Her parents are
not as normal as they should be. Her father mistreats her mother. The novel
presents the situation of Lilly and other woman like her who are mistreated by
man they loved the most. The novel presents the themes of love, loss, dilemma,
and heartache.
Lilly is an
intelligent, ambitious girl who is sensitive and passionate at the same time. She
dreamed of a happy marriage. But life throws Lilly in the
same situation as her parents. She witnessed her mother being mistreated by her
father. She marries a man who also mistreats her. The emotional turmoil she
feel is heartbreaking. When her husband Ryle mistreats her, she gives him a
second chance as all must deserve at least once. Do Ryle really deserve that
second chance?
Sometimes we
find ourselves in the same situation we had been through. That is called a pattern or cycle. There is a cycle in which we are either witness or doer, in the sense
that we are treated by people in a certain way. And we find our self in the
same position of doing or about to do the same thing others had done to us. Therefore,
what matters most is our choice and how we react to it. How we act will
determine that the cycle will end or just continue. There is a fine line
between being either of that. The choice is what differentiate us from being the
part of the cycle, or one who break the pattern of cycle.
The novel is a fantastic read. It is narrated by the main character. The past and present are infused artistically. A must read. It evokes every emotion within you. Every. Single. Emotion.
