Forrest Gump (Movie Review)

Title: Forrest Gump

Release date: 6 July 1994

Characters:

Tom Hanks as Forrest Gump;

Robin Wright as Jenny Curran;

Sally Field as Mrs. Gump;

Mykelti Williamson as Bubba;

Review:

Forrest Gump is about a boy who seems to be different from ordinary. He has been subjected to mockery and bully from those who think themselves as normal. Each time Forrest’s mother reminds him that though he is different than the rest, he is unique and special. He is good and pure. He helps everyone without any selfish reason of his own. And people seem to take advantage of his goodness as he grows up. He meets Jenny, who accepts him as he is and soon they became best friends.

The movie starts with Forrest waiting for a bus at the bus station and narrating his early life stories to the other passengers waiting for the bus like him. He is going to meet Jenny after long time. He tells that when he was a kid, he was a little bit different from other kids. Nobody accepted him for his uniqueness and he remain aloof till he meets Jenny.

Soon both went to college and Forrest joins military after college. While Jenny pursues her own desire to escape the reality. Occasionally, both meets each other at various time of their lives. In the military, Forrest became friends with Bubba. They both decides to start a shrimp business. But Bubba dies during an attack and Forrest starts the business as he promised to Bubba. He asks Jenny to be his wife but she refuses. Life was going well for Forrest when Jenny returns in his life unexpectedly. They became best friends again. One day, without a warning Jenny left. And after years she had asked him to meet him again.

The movie delivers an important message that being different is a good thing anyway. Being different doesn’t mean you are wrong or bad. It simply means you are unique and special .No matter what, a good deed always comes back as reward in some way or the other. Whatever privilege Forrest had been offered during his life, it is only because of his pure heart. When people selfishly take advantage of his goodness, they were punished for their deeds at the end. It fundamentally indicates the law of Karma. Forrest kept doing good things and rewarded afterwards.

The movie is an excellent watch. The dialogues and narration is clear and straight. The past and present are infused artistically. The setting is suitable to the scenes.

Recommendation:

  • A must watch
  • Can add to TBW list
  •  Won’t be disappointed

  Title : Without Merit Author : Colleen Hoover Type : Novel Chapters : 18 Characters : Merit Voss, Sagan, Honor Voss, the Voss family     Review : Who isn’t got family issues? Parents can make mistakes too. Without Merit by Colleen Hoover portrays the same idea. Any issue can be solved if we can be honest with each other and talk instead of just assuming things about each other. Title : The Cheat Sheet Author : Sarah Adams Type : Novel Published : 2021 Chapters : 32 + Epilogue Characters : Bree Camden, Nathan Donelson, Jamal, Prince, Dylan, Levi, Lily.   Review :   Love is a beautiful thing. A friendship can turn into a relationship. But if it doesn’t work out, there’s no way going back to friendship. The fear of it is a torture in itself. Sometimes you can’t tell a person that you are in love with them because you don’t want to lose that person. The Cheat Sheet by Sarah Adams follows the same idea. Bree and Nathan had been in love with each other since the day they met, but they are afraid that if they cross their ‘friend zone’, it may turn into a horrible disaster. Both had assumed that the other one is not interested in turning it into anything romantic. Bree and Nathan are happy in their ‘friend zone’ because they don’t want to lose each other. For them, friendship is more important than a relationship. Both has accepted the f...
