Review:
Love isn’t
always about sunshine and rainbows, sometimes it’s dark and ugly. Love is
beautiful as long as it gives happiness but when it turns into pain, it becomes
ugly. And Ugly Love by Colleen Hoover follows the same idea. The novel
describes the two different sides of love and the collision of these two sides
at the same time.
The heroine of
the novel, Tate is career oriented girl who do not want a serious
relationship. She is attracted toward his brother’s friend, Miles. He has a
past which consumes him to not to fall in love again. But he too is attracted
towards Tate. Things go bad when Tate actually falls in love with Miles.
Because it is exactly what he has asked her not to do. Even though he also
loves her as much, he denies to admit it. Which reason keeps Miles not to ever
fall in love again?
Sometimes it’s
better to just stop yourself from going through the same pain you have
experienced before. And for that you avoid everything that may lead you to that
pain. No doubt love is a beautiful thing. But when you had loved so
passionately and it didn’t work out, it hurts as hell. Miles does the same
thing. The experience of ugly side of love made him determined not to experience
love again.
The novel is an
easy read. The language is simple and clear. The past and present goes parallel
wonderfully. The novel is written from two perspectives, present is narrated by
Tate and past is narrated by Miles.
